All About NIFT

NIFT was established in the year 1986. It was made a statutory institute in 2006 by an Act of the Indian parliament with the President of India as Visitor. Currently, NIFT has 19 campuses which are well-established in different corners of India. The most recent campus of NIFT is in Varanasi. NIFT offers Undergraduate, Post Graduate, and Doctorate or PhD programs in the field of design and management. The most known design programs offered by NIFT are B.Des, M.Des, B.FTech, M.FTech, and MFM.

Admission to NIFT is based on various factors. NIFT conducts an All India Entrance Exam on a yearly basis to evaluate the student’s performance. Exams are conducted in two rounds. The first round is a written exam, and we provide specialized nift gat cat coaching to help students master both the General Ability Test and the Creative Ability Test. Our nift drawing preparation classes are specifically designed to help students excel in the creative section. The second round is the Situation Test for UG and the Personal Interview (PI) round for PG programs. Students who qualify for the first round of the exam can only appear for the second round.

UG Courses Offered by NIFT

NIFT offers the Bachelor in Design program in various fields, including Fashion Design, Accessory Design, Leather Design, Knitwear Design, Fashion Communication, Textile Design, and Fashion Interiors. NIFT also offers a Bachelor in Fashion Technology (B.FTech), for which students have to appear only for the General Ability Test (GAT) exam, and there is no second round.

NIFT B.DES ELIGIBILITY  CRITERIA

1. Candidate should have passed or be appearing in 12th from a recognized board at the time of appearing for the entrance exam.
2. Candidate should be below 24 years of age at the time of appearing for the NIFT entrance exam.

NIFT MDES ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. Candidate should have passed or be appearing in the final semester of the undergraduate program from a recognized university at the time of appearing for the entrance exam.
2. There are no age limit criteria.

NIFT MFM ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. Candidate must have passed 12th or be appearing in 12th from a recognized board at the time of appearing for the entrance exam. Physics and Math should be the main subjects in 12th.
2. There are no age limit criteria.

NIFT BFTECH ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. Candidate must have passed 12th or appearing in 12th from a recognized board at the time Of appearing for Entrance Exam. Physics and Math should be the main subject in 12th.

NIFT M.FTECH ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

1. Only candidates who have completed their B.Tech, B.E., or B.FTech (from NIFT only) can appear for the M.FTech program in NIFT.

All About NID

The National Institute of Design (NID) consists of a group of autonomous public design universities in India, with the first one established in Ahmedabad in 1961. Additional NIDs are located in Kurukshetra, Gandhinagar, Vijayawada, Jorhat, Bangalore, and Bhopal. These institutions operate independently under the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT) of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India.

NID offers an array of opportunities and courses under its umbrella. NID individual campuses offer different programs such as Textile, Furniture and Interior Design, UI/UX, Film and Animation, Photography, Ceramic and Glass Design, Automobile Design, Product Design, and Exhibition Design.

NID B.DES ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

AGE LIMIT

For General or General EWS candidates, only those born after 1st July 2004 are eligible. For OBC-NCL, SC, and ST candidates (except PwD), those born after 1st July 2001 are eligible for the NID 2026-27 entrance exam. Educational Qualification: Candidates who have cleared or are appearing in 12th from any recognized board for the current academic year can appear.

NID M.DES ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

AGE LIMIT

For General or General EWS candidates, only those born after 1st July 1993 are eligible. For OBC-NCL, SC, and ST candidates (except PwD), those born after 1st July 1990 are eligible for the NID 2026-27 entrance exam. Educational Qualification: Candidate must have passed or appeared for all subjects of a minimum 4-year bachelor's degree by 30th June 2025-26, or a 3-year bachelor's degree by August 2026-27.
